RESPONSE PROGRAM
ABOUT
Response is an educational program created by the Presentation House Gallery in partnership with First Nations Student Services at Capilano University, North Vancouver.
The program incites ways of 'responding' artistically to current and historical representations of indigenous cultures. Using an inclusive and alternative pedagogical framework, Response events include hands-on workshops, talks and discussions led by guest artists, writers and educators. The Response program thus aims to provide participants with knowledge to independently and critically express themselves, while examining art within a broader context of indigenous socio-political realities.
Following a series of workshops, talks and discussions held at Capilano University throughout 2014-2015, the program will culminate in a publication, the Response Book: Weaving Histories.
Response events are facilitated by the First Nations Student Liaison at Capilano University, Clay Little, and the Education Coordinator at the Presentation House Gallery, Sydney Hart.
